Maybe You Should Talk to Someone Book Review

The taboo around therapy in India, has too long been, that it’s for ‘mental breakdowns’ & mad people.

Which makes reading this bestselling book an energising exercise.

The best selling Lori Gottlieb has an impressive resume – pivoting from scriptwriter on the sets of ER to a doctor from Stanford Medical School to therapist. She has an easy to read, conversational style, wry, self deprecatory, funny.

Her book skilfully weaves together her story with the stories of her patients – there’s something here for everybody – from bereavements to breakups to low self esteem.

Sometimes the book feels too pat, more tell than show and a few characters like Wendell, the therapists therapist, could have been better defined.

Small gripes though, in a book that is extremely engaging.
